Outdoor Pursuits

In a county blessed with abundant space and beautiful scenery, outdoor pursuits in Lincolnshire are thriving. Our advice? Head to the Lincolnshire Wolds to enjoy a hint of adventure; pootle down for dinner at your leisure; cosy up with your favourite tipple, and then slip into bed for a sweet slumber…simply divine. Whatever you choose, peace, tranquillity and freedom to roam come as standard.

Discover the Wonderful Lincolnshire Wolds

A rambler’s paradise, the Lincolnshire Wolds are the best spot for hiking, cycling or walking. Here you’ll find accessible trails, great views and a true taste of rural character. In short, this is as far from the madding crowd as it gets, unless you happen to own a desert island. Just don’t tell everyone, please!

Walking and Hiking

A real sense of freedom and ease of travel make the Lincolnshire Wolds easy to explore on foot. Friendly market towns such as Horncastle, Market Rasen and Caistor are ideal starting or finishing points, where you’ll also find accessible, well-marked routes to follow. Consider a Photo Walk around historic Lincoln, popular with locals and residents alike. Download handy leaflets and maps…

Cycling

Washingborough Hall is slap-bang on Route 1 of The Sustrans National Cycle Network. If you’re pedalling from Dover to the Shetland Islands, we can ensure that you’re well fed and well looked after. Looking for something a little more manageable? The well-known Water Rail Way route passes through Washingborough, too. Affordable bike hire is available throughout Lincoln on a scheme similar to the 'Boris Bikes' in London.
