New Survey Reveals UK’s Most Popular Towns with Holidaymakers

Holidaylettings.co.uk has revealed which UK towns were the most popular with tourists in 2013, with Newcastle coming out on top as the most in-demand UK city in 2013.

Newcastle has seen massive investment since the millennium and with its cultural offering of shops, nightlife and dining, 2014 is set to be another profitable one for the city.

Runner-up Glasgow experienced a 220 per cent growth in enquiries and an increase in demand of more than 120 per cent – outperforming popular tourist destination Edinburgh.

In third place was Liverpool, followed by the village of Tattershall in Lincolnshire. The Cotswolds village of Bourton-on-the-Water saw an increase in demand of 25 per cent.

The findings also highlighted that Sheffield experienced a good year, with the greatest increase in enquiries on the holiday site, followed by seaside town Lytham St Annes.

Sheffield experienced a staggering 537 per cent growth in enquiries, while the Lancashire conurbation of Lytham St Annes saw a demand increase of 149 per cent.

Further south, demand in Winchester and Brighton and Hove was up by over 10 per cent, while Portsmouth’s popularity grew by 30 per cent during the same period.
