Two Thirds of Families Set to Holiday in UK this Year
Two out of three families will opt for a ‘staycation’ in the British Isles this year, rather than head for sunnier climes, according to new research by UK Tourism.
The ‘staycation’ has become an increasingly popular way for families to enjoy a budget-friendly holiday in the UK and as a result of families exploring the best the country has to offer, the nation’s top destinations are ever fluctuating.
The Cotswolds is proving an enduringly popular destination, renowned for its historic market towns, with quaint cobbled streets and country pubs. The home to some of Britain’s most popular holiday resorts, the north coast of Wales is also one of those top destinations that has been benefiting from the surge.
Ginna Clark CEO of UK Tourism said: “Our research shows that more and more families are shunning sunshine breaks overseas this year in favour of exploring beautiful Great Britain. With so much to offer from gorgeous beaches and historic market towns to rolling countryside and bustling cities, there is something for everyone. Opting to holiday in the UK also offers incredible value for money and there really is something for everyone come rain or shine.”
